Physical document verification is the most critical step in the Joint Admission Counselling (JAC) Delhi process. After seat allotment, candidates are required to report physically to their allotted institute. A single missing certificate or format mismatch can lead to the immediate cancellation of your allotted B.Tech seat. This comprehensive guide covers everything from schedules, reporting protocols, certificate formats (OBC-NCL/EWS), and how to verify successfully without panic.
Step-by-Step Document Verification Process
Once you get a seat allotment in any round of JAC Delhi 2026, follow this exact sequence:
- Pay Seat Acceptance Fee Online: Log in to the candidate portal at
jacdelhi.admissions.nic.inand pay the Seat Acceptance Fee of ₹95,000 using credit card, debit card, or net banking. Keep the fee receipt printout safely. Note that Demand Drafts or Cash are not accepted. - Check Reporting Schedule: Refer to the official schedule to know your reporting date. Reporting dates are split by region, category, and JEE Main CRL rank. (Example: In Round 1, Delhi OBC candidates report on June 17 or 18 based on rank).
- Visit Allotted Campus: Report physically to the allotted campus between 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM along with your original documents and one set of self-attested photocopies.
- Verification by Admission Committee: The authorities will check your eligibility, regional class XII certificate, category reservation documents, and fee status.
- Collect Provisional Admission Letter:Once verified, your status will update to "Admitted" in the portal. Download and print the Provisional Admission Letter. Your admission is now officially locked/secured.

JAC Delhi Document Verification Checklist 2026
Prepare this exact checklist (bring originals + 1 self-attested photocopy of each):
- Seat Acceptance Fee Receipt: Printout of the online payment confirmation receipt for ₹95,000.
- JAC Delhi Registration Form: Printed application form (generated from portal) duly signed by the candidate and parent/guardian.
- Locked Choice List: Printed copy of your choice preferences submitted during registration.
- JEE Main 2026 Admit Card & Score Card: Printed copy from NTA.
- Class XII Marksheet: Original report card and passing certificate showing qualifying marks (e.g. 60% overall in PCM for DTU/NSUT, 70% in 5 subjects for IIITD).
- Class X Certificate/Marksheet: Verification proof for Date of Birth.
- Provisional Seat Allotment Letter: Downloaded copy from portal.
- Medical Fitness Certificate: Original copy signed by a registered medical practitioner (Format 7.4 of brochure).
- Passport-size Photographs: Three recent color photos.
- Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS): Under the correct authority. EWS and OBC-NCL certificates MUST be issued on or after April 1, 2026.
- Sub-category Certificates (CW/PD/SG/KM): Defence category (CW) priority certificates, disability cards (PD), or Kashmiri Migrant quota certificates.
Critical OBC-NCL & EWS Validity Rules
OBC-NCL and EWS category certificates must be issued on or after April 1, 2026. Any certificate issued before this date will be summarily rejected, and your category will be converted to General. Furthermore:
- OBC-NCL certificates must clearly mention that the candidate does not belong to the Creamy Layer. The caste must be listed in the Delhi State OBC list (for Delhi Region candidates).
- EWS certificates must be issued by an authorized officer (Tehsildar or above) and should specify the financial year 2025-26 (valid for 2026-27).
What happens if my seat gets upgraded in a later round?
One of the biggest concerns for students is whether they need to report again when their seat gets upgraded. No, you do not need to report again. Once your documents are verified in any round and you receive your provisional admission letter, your admission status is active. If your seat gets upgraded (either branch-wise in the same college, or college-wise to another participating university), the upgrade is processed online. You do not need to pay the ₹95,000 fee again or visit the campus.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Incorrect Region Claim: Claiming Delhi Region quota when your school (Class 12) was located outside NCR/Delhi borders. Your region is determined solely by the location of your school, not your home address.
- Missing the Reporting Window: Not reporting physically on the designated date/time. Missing your slot will cause instant seat cancellation, and you will not be allowed to participate in normal counselling rounds.
- Non-Payment of Acceptance Fee: Attempting to report physically without paying the ₹95,000 online fee. Your document verification will not proceed unless the fee payment status shows successful.
- Wrong Certificate Authority: Producing category certificates signed by an unauthorized government official. Always check the acceptable authority list in Chapter 3 of the JAC Delhi brochure.
